"Fairy of the Crystal Fountain" |
The character of The Fairy of the Crystal Fountain from the "Sleeping Beauty" was something I first read of in Lorna Hill's famous series of Sadler's Wells books. As I grew up,and watched many different productions of "Beauty" by large and small ballet companies, and eventually worked on it myself, I became aware of how these fairies names were as variable as their famous variations! Candor, Candide, Breadcrumb, Finger, Violente, Singing canary, Golden Vine, Fairies of the Enchanted Garden, the Woodland Glade.... |
This plate-shaped tutu has a pale blue base: a satin bodice overlaid with lace and a soft blue net skirt, again overlaid with bordered lace. Irridescent beads, crystal drops, sequins, stones and crystal ribbon flowers ensure that the tutu is constantly sparkling as the dancer moves.
At present, this costume can be reproduced exactly.
All items are constructed to professional performance standards as used by
the major UK ballet companies. A tutu with this amount of decoration is £710 to order as shown, including colour variations.

This design could look very different constructed in alternative colours: black lace, sequins and beadwork over red or white net for "Don Quixote"; gold lace over royal blue....
